About

The Fear of Codes is a final year degree project that challenges designers to learn coding and bridge the gap between Designers and Developers.
Are you that person who thinks that coding is only for those nerdy geeks? Are you someone who thinks that coding is like an alien language? Are you someone who thinks that it is too damn difficult and almost impossible for designers to learn coding? Are you someone who hates Developers because they are weird people and always talk in a language that only their kinds can understand?
If you are, then i’ve got bad news because the fact is that Designers need Developers to get things done and they need to look at Developers as their partner, not as an enemy. Design is moving towards the digital platform quickly and we need to address this issue and bridge the gap between Designers and Developers as much as possible!
Or are you that someone who wants to learn coding but have not found any good or worthy learning materials to take up coding? Then you have come to the right place. This project aims to bridge the gap between designers and developers and also allows Designers to be able to take up and learn coding (HTML and CSS for a start) easily and in a more visually interesting way. Obviously you will not be a master at coding after going through this website but you will at least have the basic knowledge and understanding of coding, just enough NOT to turn you into a Geek and just enough for you Designers to be able to understand coding and how things work (not just design blindly but consider the functionality of the design) and hopefully be able to bridge the gap between Designers and Developers. It might even make you a better designer because you will know what is possible to do and what are unrealistic and just looks good but doesn’t work well.
Well then, it is time to exercise your right brain and hopefully you will enjoy learning coding.
PS: Some of you will surely argue why not ask Developers to learn Design instead. This is because the Developers are the ones who will code and make your designs work. Your clients talk to you mainly and anything that goes wrong with the design, by default the Designer will get blamed. Of course you should teach some design principles to your developers too!

Hey, just watched your 2-minute video on Youtube and have to say it was well done. Where are the next three, and when do you want to get started teaching me how to work on my website? (But seriously, thanks for a fun tutorial!)
